With any injection, you may experience increased pain, swelling, and redness. This is expected and will resolve. If you recently had an injection, you may have post-procedure pain lasting up to a few hours to days. If you recently had radiofrequency ablation, then the post-procedure pain may last from a few days to two weeks.

If you have new weakness, bowel or bladder incontinence, fever, chills, purulent discharge, then immediately go to the emergency room and notify our office.

Treatment for post-procedure pain consists of applying ice and heat alternating every 15 to 20 minutes. Also, the use of over-the-counter pain medications, such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and topical pain creams will help alleviate the pain.
